The papers have been full of the cruel and ridiculous decision by Rotherham Children's Services to remove three children from their foster parents because the couple had become members of UKIP, and for once The GOS finds himself in complete agreement with politicians and commentators from all sides in their wholesale condemnation. There's probably no need to say very much about it, except for one thing ...

This decision was not politically motivated. Nor was it taken in the best interests of the children, despite the pathetic bleating of Joyce Thacker, the jobsworth responsible. The silly cow can't even manage to be consistent. In one breath she claims that she has to consider the long-term welfare of the children, and in the next she says that this placement was never intended to be long-term anyway. This is a woman in way over her head.

No, this decision was motivated simply by blind, obdurate, mind-numbing stupidity.

So stupid are these Rotherham social workers that they can't tell the difference between UKIP and the BNP. For their information, one is a slightly less-than-credible but nevertheless mainstream political party which enjoys the support of roughly 9% of the British electorate – not a lot, but not inconsiderable all the same – while the other is a bunch of loony racists.

So stupid are they that they believe to be worried about uncontrolled immigration means you hate immigrants. It seems to have escaped their dim comprehension that ALL political parties believe unchecked immigration to be a bad thing that needs addressing – even the Labour Party who allowed it to develop in the first place and rely on sections of the immigrant community for a lot of their electoral support.

So stupid are they that they can't distinguish between opposition to the EU, and hatred of foreigners. The main plank of UKIP policy is that we should leave the EU, and who can blame them? The fact is that the EU is a corrupt political and bureaucratic gravy-train that is costing this country billions of pounds and robbing us of our self-determination in all spheres of life. A recent poll suggested that in the unlikely event we were ever allowed a vote, the majority of people in this country would wish to leave the EU. This doesn't mean we are racist. It means we are sensible.

So stupid are they that they don't understand the meaning of the expression “multicultural”. For their information, multiculturalism means encouraging groups of people from various geographical and ethnic origins to maintain their own traditional way of life, habits, social customs and religious practices regardless of the law and accepted mores of the host society. It means allowing little girls to be taken out of school and shipped off to Pakistan as child-brides to men they have never met. It means permitting dirty old men with dirty old razor-blades to mutilate the sexual parts of children, because that's what they always did in the home country.

It means violence by men against women because they have “shamed” their families. It means acid attacks and dead bodies in suitcases to prevent young girls from adopting the educational and career opportunities that the rest of us take for granted. It means that while the rest of us are forced by law to send our children to schools to be taught the National Curriculum, a few can have their own schools where kids are beaten until they can recite the entire Koran/Bible/Shastras/Silmarillion blindfold and standing on their heads.

It means that if you belong to a “minority” you can happily live here and ignore any bits of British law you don't agree with.

Luckily and to our great credit, we do NOT live in a multicultural society. We live in a country that embraces many cultures, true enough, but everyone is subject to British law, and the police and justice system do pursue with varying degrees of success those who don't agree with those laws, and that's as it should be.

That social workers can't understand this distinction is evident. You need look no further than the oft-quoted Victoria Climbié case, where social workers visited the child and saw her bruises, but took no action because they knew that in the country she came from, severe physical punishment was normal. And securely wrapping the comfortable cloak of multiculturalism round them, they continued to take no action until the poor little sod was dead.

It's time for social workers to join the rest of us in the real world. The rest of us live in a diverse society in which people of all ethnic origins eat, sleep, travel to work, fulfil their professional duties, get married, have children, raise and educate those children and live together in relative harmony and with a common purpose (no, not that Common Purpose) and shared ideas of what's right and wrong and what constitutes civilised behaviour. Again, well done, us. And we didn't need any social workers to tell us how to do it, either.

We hope that Rotherham council will realise that the only civilised and reasonable thing to do is to reverse Thacker's decision. We hope that Thacker loses her job. We hope that some UKIP members will sue her for accusing them of being racists.

We seriously considered making her Wanker of the Week, but frankly she doesn't even qualify for that. She can't be a Wanker because she's too stupid to find it with both hands, even if it was wrapped in coloured streamers and had a balloon on the end.
