We hear that Muslim religious leader Omar Bakri Mohammed is not to be allowed back into Great Britain, despite the fact that he has been in the country for the last twenty years and has a wife and seven children here. Good. I am sure the government has taken a reasonable decision in this case, given his history of intemperate and anti-British pronouncements But am I alone in finding the government's action rather cowardly? If we didn't want him in the country - and I'm sure we didn't - why the hell didn't we just kick him out years ago? Instead, we've waited until he went (he claims) "on holiday" and then banned him when his back was turned. It seems to me that this gives the rest of the world an impression of weakness - is that the message we need to be sending at this time? either on this site or on the World Wide Web.
